I applied for a job that I really want and haven%26#039;t heard anything back. Two weeks have gone by and I was wondering if I should send a follow up letter? If so what kind of letter should I send?

If you have a contact at the company you applied to, I would call. It has been my experience that maintaining a professional relationship with your contacts before and after interviews will really help in getting that second interview. I usually tried to call every two weeks to see where I stand.

If you want to send a letter, I would send a %26quot;thank you for interviewing me, this is why I am best fit for this position, I%26#039;m really interested in this career...%26quot; you get the point. I would send it sooner than later. If they%26#039;re interviewing other candidates, you want to make sure you are always near the front of the line in terms of who they think of first (which is why I prefer to call... repeatedly, but not to the point of being annoying).

It%26#039;s a fine line, and it depends a lot on what company, and who interviewed you. Try to be professional, and at the same time, try and network as much as possible.

I would send a follow up letter and simply state that I was checking on the interview to see if the company was nearing a decision yet. If you haven%26#039;t gotten an interview, then I would ask if interviews are planned.

So were you a mystery shopper for this company? If not, it%26#039;s probably a scam. You cash the check, they collect the amount back plus an exorbitant amount of interest.

I Googled it and came up with this:

There were four banks with alerts posted on BOL%26#039;s Alerts %26amp; Counterfeits page involving some type of scam associated with counterfeit cashier%26#039;s checks this past month. Comanche National Bank reports that counterfeit cashier%26#039;s checks are being presented for payment nationwide in connection with a mystery shopping scam. Items presented to date have been made payable in the amount of $4,998, and include the name of S.F., INC. The checks contain a fictitious bank telephone number that originates in Canada and correspondence accompanying the counterfeit checks may contain the letterhead of Shopping Feedback, Inc. It informs the recipient that he or she has been pre-selected to represent the company as a secret shopper, stating that the enclosed cashier%26#039;s check is to be used to purchase merchandise at various nationally known merchants as well as to transfer money using a nationally known wire service. The funds to be spent at each location are broken down with a specific dollar amount and then the rest of the money is to be kept for payment for the mystery shopper service. Butte State Bank also reports counterfeit cashier%26#039;s checks in circulation associated with a mystery shopper scam. Rabobank reports counterfeit items associated with online purchase overpayment scams as well as a variety of up-front payment scams. Items presented to date have included the name of Jennifer Smith as the remitter. In addition, Firstbank reports counterfeit cashier%26#039;s checks associated with a fraudulent class action settlement.

Reply:Maybe because the check is not an actual check. It could be a marketing scam to get you interested in mystery shopping. Those checks are considered junk mail.
Reply:Many companys make checks that look legitament so you end up calling them and they try to sell you their product. Unless you are an employee with them, nobody is going to send you free money in the mail. If that is the case, it is probably connected with a scam.

The training assignment is to cash the check, pose as a customer, and wire the money to an address in Canada. The scam is that the check is fake. The check bounces after the person wires the money, leaving the person liable for the fake check. People who apply for the secret shopper or mystery shopper jobs are told by the company that they have only 48 hours to complete the assignment or they will lose the job.

It%26#039;s not a complete list, but it is a start for what some things cost in 1938. I would suggest that you get specific and type in %26quot;What did a loaf of bread cost in 1938%26quot; in Google. You will be amazed at what you get.

I just had possibly the best interview of my life. I was hired on the spot. Two people interviewed me. One was the hiring manager and the other will be my future supervisor. If the refund policy is 100% of the value of the sub, then a liability account such as you describe will need to be setup. It wouldn%26#039;t matter what you%26#039;d call it, but I%26#039;d say allowance for cancellations to be accurate. However, if the refund is only going to be given for the un-delivered copies, then there should not be a liability because all that revenue should be held in an %26#039;unearned revenue%26#039; type of account until the issues are delivered. Then, little by little, the unearned revenue will move to a revenue account over time. If someone should request a refund of undelivered copies, then the unearned revenue account (a liabililty) will be debited and credit (decrease) to cash would be the entry.

You will need a patent attorney to perform a search first. They are expensive. Then, if no one has claimed your idea before you, you can then file a patent application. My advice is to ask for a loan amount that is easy to repay, and keep going back for incrementally larger loans and build the credit up after the loan is repaid and on time.

Assuming that %26quot;deducted in advance%26quot; means that the interest charges are dedected from the full amount of the loan, i.e. $5 million= interest+principle and not $5 million + interest= final amount

182 days is, as a fraction of a year, .498

.498* 6% = 2.99%, 2.99% = .0299

$5,000,000/(1+.0299)= proceeds of loan, or 4,854,756.33

$5,000,000-4,854,756.33= $145,243.67 =interest paid up front

$145,243.67 +$8,000= $153,243.67

Total cost of loan is $153,243.67

The %26quot;annual financing cost%26quot; seems to be a trick, because the loan matures in less than a year.

If one were to extend the loan out to a year, the ultimate interest paid would be higher, of course.

Seriously, though... If it%26#039;s THAT important, you should write them a letter. That way it%26#039;s in WRITING, which can be very important. If you%26#039;re waiting and you get too impatient, you can always call them back and before you get transferred (assuming this is the case) you can say to the operator that it is a VERY important issue and tell them not to transfer you to the same extention...have them transfer you to someone higher or some other place where maybe they could possibly help you or get someone who can quicker.

I have to think of a way to find out the best method for communicating with several federal agencies in order to find out what works best. At my office, we%26#039;re trying to include several agencies in a new work program, and we want them to actively search out the program and find out how to use it.
