You will need a patent attorney to perform a search first. They are expensive. Then, if no one has claimed your idea before you, you can then file a patent application. This also needs an attorney who knows how this works. It needs to be done very carefully to protect your rights in the invention. Keep in mind - If you just have an idea, it may or may not be eligible for a patent.
